A bad solar storm pretty much wiped things out starting around 0000Z - too bad
about that. Checking in at 1300Z the bands were still very poor with severe
multi-path to EU on 20M and nil on the higher bands. Activity seem good but
condx really hurt. Thanks for all the Qs...

Nice to see so many EU's active. I was trying N1MM+'s "ESM" (Enter
Sends Message) for the very first time. I bungled a few exchanges, sorry !

I ran LP for the first 1/2 of the contest, then put the amp on for the Low
Bands later at night. In the morning, 10m was workable w/o the amp, but 15
& 20 were vy QRN here with weak signals, so the amp came back on (~500w)

I did hear one 9A station on 160m, but just about 419 and never could attract
his attention.

Just an hour here and 15 minutes there.

Thanks for all the Q's all year long.

Perhaps see you in the Stew Perry or the RAC Winter,

This was quite fun. I didn't know if I would do it serious or not. During the
time I did operate I did it serious but I took a long nap during the night. I
don't know how much I lost because of that but because DX activity is so low in
this contest I don't think it hurts too much when Europe is still sleeping. I
had intended to sleep 3 hours though but it ended up being almost 5.

40m was horrible during the night, the MUF went below 7 MHz so I could not hear
any Europe so I had to spend a lot of time on 80 and 160m. Otherwise conds were
really good except as stated the DX activity is very low in this one. Tried to
run some on 40m during daylight and it was monster signals from JA/US but no

Fun to hear UT2G, YR1A, UA5A with high numbers. Not sure of their category
though so it will be interesting to see.

Activity was low. Conditions on the higher bands were not so good. 40 meters
was good, although signals were generally weak.
YU1EW   SOAB LP   36,9602014-12-21 06:40:06
Since I have injured my left leg, which has to be in plaster for two more weeks,
made some kind of "local" remote operation. HRD server + RemAud +
FT1000MP into all band Inv Vee in one room and me, PC notebook with HRD client
+ WT in another. The whole thing stuck from time to time, but rarely and in
general it was useful. The main issue I saw was not the network bandwidth, but
remote computer CPU power with all those app running (as there was one old
Atom@1,6GHz at remote side).
Thank to all of you calling and especially to a few of you guys for a extra
time I took you during our QSOs.
Zoran, YU1EW

Nice condition on higher bands, but 80/40 quite poor due to Aurora.

Good activity in general. Looking forward to next year already. Activity from
Europe of course better than from other continents, but still variety of calls
from nearby and more remote locations.

10 meters was exciting with P4/DL6RAI as most interesting contact. Big signal
(S9) but HUGE echo from multi-path propagation made copy of both call and
serial number a true challenge. Using a vertical is sometimes really weird, as
signals come from several directions and with a slight delay from longer paths.
Same phenomena from Europeans on 10 an 15 meters as well, so sorry if I had to
ask again for serial number a few times...

Rig: TS 590 S
Amp: ACOM 1010
Power: 700 Watts

160 meters: My 80 meter vertical with internal tuner and 100W (95 in return),
so thanks to those 4 stations that manage to copy my weak sigs.
80 meters: 1/4 wave vertical @ ground level with 3000 m radials
40 meters: 1/4 wave vertical @ ground level with 2 elevated radials
20 meters: dipole at 6 meters height
15 meters: 1/4 wave vertical @ ground level on same ground plane as 80 meter
10 meters: 1/4 wave vertical @ 10 meters height with 2 elevated radials

73 and Seasons Greetings to all contesters! See you in 2015 contests!

Thanks to 9A1AA and 9A2UU for joining the team, and also 9A3CRF, 9A7MM and 9A9T
for logistics support.

Great fun during the weekend with old friends.
Also, we had excellent contest warm-up session @9A3CRF. v2.2.7 beta was used this time with two networked PC's (RUN+MULT).
Addition of coax stubs to the existing BPF's before couple of weeks did a great
job to reduce station interference.

Thanks for QSOs and Merry XMAS and HNY to everyone.

FT1000MP, Alpha 91b, 1 KW, TH6DXX, dipole. When I changed from 10 to 15M, the
amplifer protection circuit came on and shut down the amp. Every time I tried
to tune it up, the same thing happened. This dampened my enthusiasm for the
contest and I spent most of the rest of the contest with my family and
operating as W1AW/4 in the ARRL Centennial Celebration. Good opertors, good
activity, fun while it lasted. Will take the 91b in for repairs this week I
hope and get back my repaired Alpha 78 and use it for a while. Seasons
greeetings to all. We are still operating as W1AW/4 in GA until 2400Z Tuesday.

This was our 18th entry in this Contest. We bettered our best score from 2012
more than 100k points. Conditions were very good on 10 & 15, but very poor
on lower bands, especially on 160 meters. We had some very good runs in the
first 8 hours of the contest, but during the night it was very slow. Our best
hour was 17-18Z with 130 QSOs.
73 and Merry Christmas and HNY 2015 to all Contesters!
