I can't hear well with my limited antenna but worked all I could hear. N1MM
shows one hour but that doesn't include the time spent just searching for
stations. I'll bet my total time is more on the order of 4 hours on and off. I
was surprised that I did manage to worked N2CU who was the only mobile I think.
N6MU   SOCW LP   2,8062017-10-21 22:02:51
When I finally had propagation on 40 there were few left to work. I think most
were watching the Yankees game, hi. 15 was open most of the day. Thanks to
those who moved when asked.

The 3830 posts show many NY stations never ventured above 40. Sure makes it
tough on the left coast where there is no propagation during the day. Just
saying. 73...

Thanks to the Rochester DX Assn organizers/sponsors and New York stations for
another fun event. It was hard sitting in the chair all afternoon with a sunny,
clear sky and 70 degree temps, and I took an hour off for yard work.

Last year the only county I missed was SCO, and of course this year I worked
two stations there... Missed a bunch of others, though: BRX, CLI, ESS, ORL,

There didn't seem to be as much CW and mobile activity as last year, so I ended
up spending more time on SSB. That resulted in about 60 more QSOs but with the
lower multiplier my score is almost exactly the same. I was glad to be able to
work more stations on backscatter on 20 CW than last year, and also some
contacts on 160.

Special thanks to mobiles N2CU and WJ2O (13 QSOs each), KV2X (8 QSOs) and K0BAK
(3 QSOs) for keeping it interesting, and to fixed stations K2ZWI (NW2K), AB3CX,
and W2SO for many band/mode QSOs.
AB3CX   SOMixed HP   133,1042017-10-22 07:20:29
I got carried away on 20M phone, neglecting CW. Could not find a lot of the NY
counties, but still had a great time and was happy to shake the station down a
bit for the upcoming contest season.

No mobile activation this year (truck is in the shop). Limited time to operate
this year. Will be back next year from the mobile, hopefully with NW2K as
rover partner. Thanks for all the QSO's.

Just a few minutes before and after a day of antenna work at K8AZ and after

Ran entire operation from my desk in my home office, with a K3S and K3
configured as a remote pair between rooms. Thus, one QTH was used. Antenna is
the 160 meter dipole, affectionately called my SwampMaster, fed with home brew
600-Ohm OWL. The OWL terminates in a DXE 4:1 balun connected to a KAT500 and
used on all bands. Three common mode chokes are in the OWL. I found 20 to be
disappointing, but perhaps I was not on-air at the right times for that band.
All contacts were logged on paper and all sending was done by hand (no
computer). My apologies to those who thought I was using a new form of morse,
due to sending with a pencil in my sending hand. It brought back some very old
memories! Thanks to all for the QSOs.

Many thanks to the numerous "not in the contest" stations that gave me
a point.
N2CU   SO MobileMixed LP   85,1202017-10-22 17:41:24
Not my best effort but not sure what I could have done better. Maybe hitting 80m
during the day would have helped (I usually do that). Being single-op, you lose
a lot of operating time driving between counties. This year I skipped CHA,
which is where my cottage is, because going there creates a long drive to WYO
and then another long drive to ALL. With this plan I eliminated one long drive
(~45 minutes) and I ended with 9 hours operating time.

I activated 7 counties; ERI, CAT, WYO, ALL, LIV, STE and ONT and then
backtracked after dusk to get some QSOs on 80m. After finishing STE I debated
backtracking or going to the next county. I chose the latter and hope I
provided a needed county to some folks.

QSO leaders: OM2VL 25, K1RO 14, N6MU 9, N2JJ 8, WB2ABD and K2ZR 7, W5TM, W2RR
and W0ZQ 6. Lots with 5 QSOs. A special thanks to our southern neighbors (PA)
who were the second most worked state at 44. A good showing by OH, VA and IL
among others.

32 NY counties, 47 states and provinces and some DX were worked. OM2VL
accounted for 25 of my 31 DX QSOs. Thanks Laci for the support and for moving
me for additional bands/modes!

Thanks to all who came to our party! It was very much appreciated.

K3/100, KA8KIP Eliminator screwdriver and N1MM Classic. 219 miles driven. Not a
whole lot of gas due to my new scooter, a Toyota RAV4. Only two deer in the
middle of the road; didn't contact either of them.

of the NYQP contest. Wassup with such a WIMPY length of QSO party?
At least giver us another shot at it on Sunday.
As a substitute I also played in ILQP, WAG & the JARTS RTTY contest.

Cue Huey Lewis' "Workin' for a Livin'". The classic problem with a
Saturday-only event is that even those of us who have it pretty good jobwise
sometimes have to be at work. Looks like there was good activity, so hopefully
I can do better next year.
